About the Author
Heather Michon became a published author at the age of seven, when she took to her pen to write an impassioned letter to the editor over the plight of a poor little dog tied to a parking meter in the middle of a Vermont winter. She hasn't stopped scribbling since.
Her work has appeared in regional publications like Vermont Woman Magazine and The Hook (Charlottesville, Va.) to national and online venues like The Washington Post and Salon.com. She also has a blog on Open.Salon.com, where she is frequently highlighted as an Editor's Pick.
She has written more than 150 entries for encyclopedias in history, medicine, and environmental science, as well as a dozen chapters for Facts on Files's "Handbook to Life In America" series. For several years, she abstracted journal articles for ABC-Clio's "Historical Abstracts" and "America: History & Life" series. She has published academic book reviews in Southwestern Historical Quarterly and other academic journals.
Through Elance.com, she earned a five-star rating from her clients, providing everything from sales copy to full-length manuscript editing and e-book formatting. More recently, she has assisted private clients with social media management and website re-visioning.
Heather earned a BA in history from Trinity College of Vermont, and history remains the thing she writes about when she's finished writing for other folks. She lives in Central Virginia with her husband, Doug, and their kitten, Jigsaw.
